Marzano Academy Teacher Micro-Credentialing
Marzano Academies offers micro-credentialing that focuses on different aspects of Dr. Marzano’s Competency-Based Learning model. You can take the learning experiences one element at a time to earn credentialing at the most granular level, earn a full badge in a specific Design Area of the model, or earn certification as a competency-based educator. Either way, you can take your teaching to the next level.
The Curriculum
The micro-credentialing curriculum is based on Dr. Marzano’s 50+ years of research. His career has been dedicated to building a functioning model for Competency-based learning, providing detailed guidance on effective instruction and assessment within such a system, and identifying the best measures of success. This means that when you enroll in our program, you can be confident that you’re using the most effective strategies to positively impact your learners.
Certification Pathways
Marzano Academies stands out with its three unique competency-based pathways, offering you the opportunity to earn credentialing in the only instructional model explicitly designed for competency-based learning. Each pathway is designed to cater to your preferences, ensuring you can choose the one that best suits your needs.
- Pathway 1 – The Element Level. This allows you to choose an area of focus at the most granular level. Find the specific aspect of instruction from the 23 groups of elements and take your practice even higher.
- Pathway 2—The Badge Level. The Competency-Based Instructional Model’s 49 elements are grouped into ten overarching Design Areas, each with a specific focus on instruction. Choose the Design Area that most interests you. Once you complete it, you will earn the badge to show your level of understanding of competency-based instruction.
- Pathway 3 – The Certificate Level. This pathway provides access to all Design Area courses to personalize which elements you want to focus on and when. You will be certified as a competency-based educator if you earn badges for all ten Design Areas.
Synchronous Learning is Available
As a Marzano Academies student, you have access to virtual office hours with Marzano Academies’ Faculty Members. During these sessions, we will:
- Break down the evidence-based elements and strategies,
- Discuss implementation strategies,
- Review the submission of work you have provided and provide feedback, and
- Answer specific questions about using the elements and strategies in your classroom.
